How do I set it up?
Fire TV Stick comes pre-registered to your Amazon account so all you need to do is Connect Fire TV to your HDTV set, select your language and connect it to your WiFi. Once you’ve done that the setup will guide you through how to use Amazon Fire TV. You can also use the installation guide for help.
Say it and Watch it.
One of the most impressive features of Amazon Fire TV is the voice search. All you have to do is hold the microphone button like you would a walkie talkie and say what you want. You can ask for the whether of a city or make a comparison of the weather in one city with another, you can ask for a song or movie or sport to be played, ask for actor information and so on. This is all done with Alexa a cloud based voice service which is sort of like siri for your iphone. The more you use Alexa the better it gets at being able to adapt to your speech patterns, vocabulary, and personal preferences.
Amazon Fire TV is also portable so you can take it with you when you are off on vacation, travelling or in college. You just need to have an HDTV and a wireless connection to make use of it.
Mirroring is a feature I’m sure a lot of people are familiar with but for those who aren’t – it is basically a feature that lets you connect your iphone or tablet to your TV so you can see everything being done on your phone displayed on your TV. This is especially good for playing games on your phone on a bigger screen or in some cases if you are planning on recording/making a video of a game you are playing on your phone it makes it easier to record so you can post good quality videos online. Apart from games you can look at other stuff like movies, photos, TV shows which would otherwise be too small to view on a phone. It works on Motorola, LG, and Google without the need for any additional apps or software.
TV on Demand
With Amazon Fire TV you can make use of your cable TV subscription to stream your favorite TV shows, sports and movies. You can search for the apps for your favorite channels, enter your cable account information and then start streaming your shows. You can even add an HD antenna to your HDTV set to watch channels locally available in your area.
Explore information about you TV shows and movies
Using the X-ray on Fire TV you can view information about your shows and movies like actors, songs in the scene, actor’s bios and character backstory. You can also jump to your favorite scene or skip the opening credits to go to the start of the movie.
Although it is not available for all the content being played. The closed caption is available for TV shows, videos and movies.
If you make use of amazon prime, you will also have access to prime videos, music, amazon originals and photos. You can gain access using a dedicated prime menu option.

The standard remote will cost you $39.99 but if you want the voice remote you will have to pay another $10 which brings the price up to $49.99. If you are looking for additional features you will have to choose between two other price points $99.99 and $139.99 which will give you additional features like extra storage, ethernet and USB 2.0. The $49.99 price gives you a dual core processor but the other two prices gives you a quad core processor.
Conclusion : The interface is very easy to navigate through and the price is not too high either. If I was looking to buy one for the quad core processor, additional storage space, ethernet and USB port 2.0 I would look into the other price ranges if not the $49.99 price tag does look good to me. The only advantage I see in the high price ranges is definitely the quad core processor which I think we could do without but the problem is I’ll be losing out on better performance which is also something I would need especially for high performance gaming. If I was planning on giving it as a gift, I might just think of going in for the $99.99 price tag. If you have the money to spend I’m sure you can ask for additional stuff. The setup and usability looks easy to manage but the remote battery case is a little harder to open. The sound quality and viewing experience is good especially when you are watching a movie with your friends or family. The voice remote is very useful too – just ask for a song or movie to play and it is available on screen. Overall, it looks like a good value for money.
